Zimbe! is a brilliant fusion of traditional African song and jazz, which has already drawn together singers of all ages, ability and nationalities across the globe. The music is instantly likeable and fun to learn as well as perform.

Our children joined forces with the Eltham College Choir and singers from other local primary and prep schools to perform the work as part of a community singing event. The massed choirs were accompanied by the ‘Call me Al’ Jazz Quintet, a professional jazz group formed and led by Zimbe’s composer himself, Alexander L’Estrange.

The children rehearsed all afternoon, and despite the soaring temperatures, stayed really focused and sensible. At 5.30 p.m. parents and carers began arriving at the special marquee and the performance began. The children from Brindishe Green sang beautifully and were a credit to our school – well done children!
