Data Protection Act 1998
Our school is the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act. We collect information from parents/carers, and may receive information about children from their parent/carer or their previous school. We hold this personal data and use it to:
- support pupils teaching and learning;
- monitor and report on their progress;
- provide appropriate pastoral care, and
- assess how well the school is doing as a whole.
This information includes contact details, national curriculum assessment results, attendance information, characteristics such as ethnic groups, special educational needs and any relevant medical information.
We will not give information about children or their families to anyone outside the school without consent unless the law and our rules permit it.
We also collect data and personal information from our staff. We use it, for example, to monitor the profile of our workforce.
We are required by law to pass some information to the Local Authority (LA), and the Department for Education, (DfE).
If you want a copy of the information we hold about you ( as a member of staff) or about your child please contact the Headteacher. (Access requests may be subject to a fee of up to £10.00 to cover cost of administration).
