Dear parents, carers, staff, governors and friends,

Parent/Carer Survey

Attached to the newsletter this week are the results from our Parent/Carer Survey earlier this year. Out of our 700 children attending Brindishe Green we had responses from 257 parents and carers. The key findings are attached.

Parent Survey April 2017

Parent Survey Bar Charts for BL BG and BM

Also attached is the breakdown of responses from across all 3 schools. I’m sure you will be interested to note that the results from each of our three Brindishe Schools were virtually identical. We will be working together across our three communities to address the areas and questions raised by the results of the survey.

Science at Brindishe Green

Earlier this week we heard that we have been successful in gaining the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) Silver level.

The PSQM team said that a strong aspect of our submissions was: ‘the love of science demonstrated throughout……. You are clearly valuing and responding to the children’s interests and needs. Leading their own club at break times, writing their own articles and taking charge of the science equipment all show their passion and your ability to nurture and develop this…….I hope there are plans to maintain this regular engagement with the pupil’s views in the future’.

Many congratulations are also in order for Brindishe Lee and Brindishe Manor, awarded Gold and Silver levels respectively.

This week at Brindishe Green

On Wednesday, years  1 & 2 were treated to a Science Dome experience which was truly wonderful! Thank you to Chloe Goldsmith for organising this for everyone.

Attendance at Brindishe Green

Well done to Willow, Redwood and Palm class for having the highest attendance this week. Walnut, Elm and Birch (again) had the best punctuality. Chestnut 4 had the best attendance and punctuality this week in reception – well done to you!

Walk to school week!

Thank you to everyone that counted their steps and walked to school this week. We will let you know the final count for each class in due course.

Children have been asked to develop a walking zone map of Brindishe Green’s local area to help plan safer, active travel routes to school for our children and families. Please remember all entries need to be in by 26th May.

Medical appointments during the school day

Please try to make any medical appointments for before or after school.  If this is not possible, we will need to see medical evidence. Thank you.

…and finally

Live My Digital: Cyberbullying (some helpful adivice)

The Girls' day School Trust has created 'Live My Digital', a unique video series to help parents help their children to stay safe online. The series consists of six short films for parents and six matching films for children to empower families to use social media safely and responsibly.

The videos look at the ways in which the internet and digital technology can be used

positively by young people as well as identifying the potential issues they may face. This week we are focussing on cyberbullying: https://www.gdst.net/parents/live-my-digital/students-online-safety-videos

Wishing all our families a lovely (and hopefully dry) weekend.

Best wishes
